BRIT Awards 2016: Adele Voices Support for Kesha

Adele took the opportunity to publicly voice support for Kesha at the 2016 BRIT Awards.
The “Hello” singer picked up four awards at the BRIT Awards and while the honors were no surprise to her fans, her acceptance speech for Best British Female Solo Artist was more than just a simple “thank you”.
“I’d like to take a quick second to thank my management and my record label for embracing the fact that I’m a woman and being encouraged by it,” she shared while holding her trophy. “And I’d also like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha. Thank you very much.”
A judge recently denied Kesha’s request for a preliminary injunction with Sony music producer Dr. Luke. This would have allowed her to release music outside of the control of Dr. Luke who she claims has sexually and physically abused her for years.
Despite the current legal setback, the outpour of support for Kesha from celebrities has been growing. Taylor Swift donated $250,000 to help with finances. Many female artists such as Lady Gaga and Kelly Clarkson have tweeted out their support and Zedd has offered to make music with Kesha. But the words of solidarity from the world’s best-selling artist, who is also female, is very impactful.
